Decentralized Planning & Forecasting

Clients engaging QRM produce more accurate plans, reduce operational errors and inefficiencies, and accelerate the overall planning process. QRM works with clients to build and maintain processes and workflows that enable all organizational levels of a financial institution to have direct access to a robust, comprehensive, and uniform set of planning and forecasting tools. Our clients build a planning process which provides coordination across the breadth of the financial institution, no matter how vast, be it 5 countries, 15 business lines or 500 responsibility centers.

Maintain Consistency and Improve Accuracy with an Integrated Planning Process
Our consultants work with clients to carefully and tightly integrate the planning process across many disparate disciplines. The improved planning process takes all dimensions of risk into account and assures accurate and consistent generation of cash flows, yields, balances, margin and non-margin line items, and income at the cost center level. In addition, integration allows clients to run plans across all dimensions or roll them up to any level of the organizational hierarchy.

QRM's clients leverage the same Analytical Framework employed in all other QRM engagements, to store the processes and workflows built during reengineering. Featuring an easy-to-use, web-based Excel interface, the Framework allows clients to create plans and forecasts, submit them for processing to advanced trading-quality analytical engines, and then distribute them to each planning unit. Protected input spreadsheets, containing administration-controlled lists of pricing indexes and growth methods, prevent the planner from making inadvertent inputs. To further ensure constiency and accuracy, clients often establish checks for notifying the planner of incomplete or invalid plans.

Give Managers the Tools They Need to Succeed
QRM's philosophy is to provide flexibity to business line managers without sacrificing accuracy or consistency. When reengineering processes, QRM is intent on allowing managers to calculate new business projections using incremental or target-based methods derived from direct-entry or formula-based expressions. We also encourage managers to refine their planning processes by comparing initial plans against multiple market scenarios, comparing results to actual numbers, and creating variance reports. Additionally, QRM clients often consolidate plans to perform further analysis from an executive or treasury perspective.

Reduce Resource Requirements and Accelerate the Forecasting and Budgeting Process
Planning processes are streamlined via an easily monitored, workflow-driven design. QRM consultants partner with clients to map out individual workflows and processes, and features such as automated notifications and approval phases. Our clients are encouraged to embrace on-the-fly processing via web interface, and thereby eliminate dependence on intermediate analysts or third party system experts and reduce wait times for individual managers.

Embracing web-based components reduces the institution's IT support needs, since custom "planning software" is not required to be installed on each planner's desktop. QRM's approach also reduces training needs, as the process is designed around a user-friendly web interface and intuitive Excel spreadsheets.

Increase Transparency with Better Reporting
QRM works with clients to create customized reports viewable by any dimension or rolled up to any organizational level. Our consultants assist clients with creating input and output reports that address the needs of different constituents within the organization. Embracing advanced reporting tools and QRM's assistance makes establishing actuals, budgets, rolling forecast-based comparisons, and related variance and trend analyses, a simple task. These reporting processes are integrated directly into the base workflows, thus enabling assumption reports, runoff reports and other pertinent planning details to be sent to the planners upon commencement of the plan.
